Sep 01, 2023'Armored Core' Connects With Ceeze for Customized New Balance 2002R
Following its initial launch in 1997, Armored Core has become one of the most immersive and challenging third-person shooter video game franchises in the world. Now, in celebration of its sixth instalment, the team behind the game has connected with New York-based designer, Ceeze, to create a custom pair of New Balance 2002R.
In recent times, Ceeze has continued to build its reputation as one of the world’s most unique designers, creating everything from Tiffany-inspired Air Jordan 1’s to customized “Victory Chairs” crafted from the scraps of worn Nike sneakers. Now, Ceeze and the Armored Core team have come together to create an “ultra-technical” runner suitable for those inside the game.
Using the New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” as its canvas, this new and bespoke iteration of the silhouette utilizes the retro runner’s jagged suede overlays for a collection of earthy hues alongside details and branding elements taken straight from the Armored Core franchise.
Furthermore, customary New Balance branding can be spotted on the lateral sides and tongue, while exclusive typography is applied to the heel counters and perforated uppers. Rounding off the design, splashes of red are applied across the design, used to contrast the silhouette’s “Tone Grey” detailing around the outsole and laces.
And while the Armored Core x Ceeze New Balance 2002R isn’t available to purchase — unless you work in the Armored Core gaming studio — you can take a closer look at the exclusive collaboration above.
